Grading of Notebooks

Hello,

Last week was the first submission and grading of notebooks. Some of you were confused about why you got a certain grade. Refer to the rubric that is pasted/stapled into your notebook. It lets you know why you got the score that you got. For example, if you did not have your table of contents filled out, you got a 7. Before notebooks are turned in again this week, make sure to refer back to the rubric to ensure that you get full points for all your hard work! Also if you weren't here on Friday or didn't have your name in your notebook, come by Ms. Ellis or my room before or after school to fix your grade.

Greetings Tigers!

Ms. Ellis and I would like to welcome you to a new school year. This blog will keep you informed on events going on in our classroom through out the year. It is also a great resource if you have questions on certain lessons. Mrs. Bloom our current vice principle and former Topaz math teacher has spent countless hours creating videos to support your math learning. So check out the videos! In addition all homework assignments can be found in the tabs at the top of the blog, so look for either 7th Grade Homework Assignments or 8th Grade Homework Assignments. We both wish you continued successes this school year.

Released Test Questions/Three Chances to Win

Q: What if you had a sneak peak into the state test, would you take it?
Q: Would you practice all of the types of problems that were going to be on the test?
Q: Would you study enough to guarantee yourself a spot on Team 350?

Well, we do have a sneak peak into the state test. Every released test question is a glimpse into what, at one time, was an actual test question! So don't you think there will be more like them?

I do.

If we practice these, we are essentially practicing the questions that are on the test!

Q: Is it a good idea to practice these questions as much as possible before testing?
A: Yes!

So what about these chances to win, you ask? Well, there are three, and they all involve watching an RTQ video and completing this beautifully designed study form:

1. Extra Credit. Receive extra credit in your technology/math support class for each completed form you turn in.

2. Drawing for prizes. Each completed form also serves as a ticket that will be entered into a drawing for prizes (prizes will be announced at a later date).

3. Pizza party with Baby Everett. The 10 people that complete the most study forms before testing will be awarded a pizza party with your amazing math teachers accompanied by the one and only Baby Everett!

So what are you waiting for? Get studying!
